Keyspan Usa 28x Windows Drivers For Mac
Hi All, I hope you can help me. We have a 12 inch PowerBook G4 which we are attempting to use with our Davis Monitor II weather station. We are running OSX 4.11 and WeatherLink software 4.5. The weather station has the old 8 pin din serial connector so we have a Keyspan USA-28X B to convert serial to USB to connect the two together. The driver we are using for the Keyspan is version 2.5. We can get the two to communicate together for a little while but then the communication fails and weather data does not transfer to the computer for display.

Keyspan Driver
Sometimes the wind info on the weather station gets corrupted too. As soon as I unplug the Keyspan the wind info on the weather station settles down and works correctly. By experimentation I am zeroing in on the problem as having something to do with the connection between computer and weather station and suspect the Keyspan is the problem. Does anybody know of a good serial adapter that will work correctly with the computer and OX.
Should I downgrade the OX to OSX 3? Has anybody had experience with the Keyspan USA 28X B working correctly with the PowerBook 12 inch G4 and/or OSX 4.11? Thanks for any help you can give us. Keyspan has been the most reliable manufacturer of Mac-compatible serial-to-USB adapters for many years, and you have the correct version of Keyspan's driver for your adapter and your OS version. I don't think you're likely to find anything better. Try the following steps, if you haven't already: Disconnect all other peripheral devices from the computer.
Be sure the computer is running on AC power and quit all other applications before connecting the weather station and running its software. These steps aren't very likely to solve the problem, but they will eliminate some possible external causes. If it persists anyway, check with the maker of the weather station software to make sure the version of it you're using is compatible with OS X 10.4.x. Failing that, you may just be out of luck. Well, I just checked Davis's web site, and not only has the Monitor II been discontinued, but the Mac software for it has been too.
There's no indication when, or when it was last updated. None of this bodes well for you, I'm afraid, though your idea of reinstalling OS X 10.3 is probably worth trying, particularly if you know it worked previously with that OS version on the same Powerbook. I'm more inclined to suspect the Davis software is incompatible with 10.4.x than that the Keyspan adapter and driver are. Keyspan says the 2.5 driver is compatible with 10.4.x and 10.5.x, and after long experience with their products (not the one you're using, though), I tend to believe them. Apple Footer.
